Payment gateways ready to use in Zimbabwe
To sell online in Zimbabwe, your website needs a payment gateway: a secure service that takes the customer’s payment and settles the money into your business bank account. The good news is that Zimbabwean shoppers already pay digitally every day, through mobile money, bank cards and wallets. The right gateway lets them use the same methods on your website.
Paynow: the most widely used local gateway
Paynow is the gateway most Zimbabwean online stores use, because one integration covers the payment methods your customers already have:
- Mobile money: EcoCash, OneMoney and Telecash
- Wallets: InnBucks and O’mari
- Cards: Visa and Mastercard (local and international), and ZimSwitch cards enrolled for online payments
- Bank payments: customers of several local banks can pay directly from their accounts
Merchants register with Paynow, add the bank account they want paid into, and verify their identity, company and bank details. You can switch off any payment method you don’t want to offer.
Bank gateways and other options
Some Zimbabwean banks offer their own online merchant gateways, which can suit businesses that already bank with them. International options are more limited: DPO, once a popular regional gateway, exited Zimbabwe in 2024, and PayPal’s options for Zimbabwean businesses receiving payments are restricted. For most stores selling to local customers, Paynow is the simplest place to start.

- Currency: decide whether you will price in US dollars, ZiG or both.
- Fees and settlement: check transaction fees and how quickly money reaches your bank account.
